When our photographers come to photograph, our goal is to create heirloom-quality portraits of your baby and capture images that most parents cannot capture on their own with a phone or their own camera. Due to the wide variety of circumstances and situations that our photographers encounter, black and white is the best format to give families a consistent quality. For some circumstances, color images of some babies are extremely difficult to create the heirloom quality image. In our effort to be consistent with all families, we deliver all images in black and white. When the photographer comes into the room, they make sure you know that the photographs are in black in white and we also have a section on our form signing that you understand they are in black and white. Additionally, our photographers are trained to encourage families to take their own photographs. This way, you would have the color option with your own photos and you would have pictures of your baby when the photographer is not there.
We hope that you can find peace and comfort in the gorgeous photographs provided by our photographers and digital retouch artists. We also hope this helps you understand that in order to serve more than 4,000 families a year (and growing), having a standard gift opens up our opportunity to serve more families who desperately need us during this devastating time.
Note: If your photos were facilitated by a medical provider, unfortunately, we are not authorized to release the original photos that the hospital sent to us. But if you call the hospital, you could talk to one of the nurses. We don’t know individual hospital policies, but they might be able to send them to you upon request.
